If you’ve ever had to leave your groceries with the cashier while grabbing your wallet from the car, then have I got some news for you.
Starting October 7th, H-E-B has begun a phased rollout of tap-to-pay services, bringing a new level of convenience to shoppers across Texas. Customers will soon be able to pay for their purchases using digital wallets like Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay. This service will be available at cash registers, self-checkout lanes, and even H-E-B brand restaurants and pharmacy locations, although it won’t be at the fuel pumps just yet.
The rollout will start in San Antonio, with H-E-B stores across the city receiving the update within the first week. By the end of October, the service will be available at all H-E-B locations across Texas, including Mi Tienda stores in Houston.
Ashwin Nathan, H-E-B’s Group Vice President of Marketing and Payments, emphasized that this move is in response to customer feedback: “This has been one of the most requested services we have received from our customers and Partners, and we are excited to now make this popular technology available at all our H-E-B locations.”
This expansion brings our beloved Texas grocery chain in line with modern payment trends, making it easier for shoppers to make purchases without the need to dig through their bags for wallets or cards.
So next time you’re at H-E-B, whether it’s for your weekly grocery haul or a quick pharmacy run, all you’ll need is a tap to get on your way.
